The Challenge
Auckland Council manages one of the largest infrastructure portfolios in Australasia — over $30 billion in assets including water networks, roads, parks, and community facilities. Their existing asset
management approach relied on disconnected spreadsheets, periodic manual inspections, and siloed departmental systems. This made it nearly impossible to prioritise maintenance spending, forecast renewal timelines, or coordinate cross-departmental projects effectively.
The Approach
Eagle Technology worked with Auckland Council’s asset management and IT teams over 18 months to design and implement a comprehensive spatial asset management platform built on ArcGIS Enterprise. The solution integrated existing SCADA and IoT sensor data, LiDAR surveys, and asset registers into a unified GIS environment, enabling real-time visibility across all infrastructure types.
Key Deliverables
- ArcGIS Enterprise deployment with cloud-hosted geodatabase
- Custom web applications for field inspections and work orders
- Real-time IoT integration for water pressure and flow monitoring
- Executive dashboards for infrastructure condition and spending
- Staff training programme and change management support
“Eagle Technology didn’t just implement technology — they helped us fundamentally rethink how we manage our city’s infrastructure. The spatial platform has become essential to how we plan, prioritise, and deliver for Aucklanders.”
